Rental and service companies are bound by safety to provide reliable equipment and high-quality services delivered by well-trained professionals. To that end, effective equipment maintenance can be viewed as a competitive advantage within the industry. The truth is regular inspections and technical checks reduce equipment downtime and allow important data to be analyzed by proper managing personnel, thus saving your company both time and money, and giving you that edge we just mentioned.

Be it inspections that you need to carry out before the job, during or after, or even before sending specific items to client location – RigER has all the capabilities implemented. You can even perform inspections on inspections, or how it is called officially – pass the inspected items through Quality Control.

Inspections in RigER are performed using documents called Inspection Cards. These documents contain the checklist for a particular Unit Number which decides if that asset will pass the inspection, or will it be sent to repairs.

Inspection Cards rely on templates that have been previously created according to the company’s specific requirements and include the actual asset types that the inspection needs to be carried on (i.e. Man Lifts, Trash Trailers, etc.). The templates are called Inspection Templates. Inspection Templates define the document (and if applicable its type) that can trigger the inspection.

Inspection Register is a document that contains all the inspection cards pertaining to one Rental Ticket. All the assets that have gone through the inspection will be shown in the Inspection Register, with detailed information about the actual asset numbers (Unit Numbers) Inspection Card, Inspector, Inspection Status and Result.

Going back to the Inspection Templates:

There are several documents that can trigger an inspection process in RigER, and in most cases the Inspection Template is the document that defines those triggers. Here are some of the documents that can initiate an inspection process:

There are several types of inspections that can be carried out – before, during, after the jobs, in the shops, or while transferring between them, etc. The documents mentioned above will also define the type of inspection that will be carried out, as each one can be considered as an interpretation of a stage the job is at. If the Reservations module is enabled in the RigER configuration, there is yet another type of inspection that can be performed – the pre-delivery inspection, which assumes that you will inspect the assets you have reserved for a particular job before considering to send those to the client location.

Let’s say after inspecting an asset and as a result, having it sent for repair, you might want to make sure that the repair went as it should have, and that your asset is ready for another job. This is when Quality Control comes into the picture. Acting as another type of inspection generated based on the Repair Card, this stage also makes use of templates containing checklists to go through and verify that everything is as it should be.
