Behind the Scenes: RigER on the Landman Season 2 Set

This May, the RigER team had a unique opportunity to step out of the office and onto a Hollywood set.
Paramount Pictures invited RigER │ Oilfield Job Management Software to appear as an exhibitor at a fictional version of the Permian Basin International Oil Show (PBIOS) in an episode of Landman Season 2. For a solution built to support real-world oilfield operations, being featured in a major series centered on the energy industry was a natural fit.
Bringing an Oil Show to Life on Set
For many on the team, this was a first experience with film production—and it was eye-opening.
From the start, the level of professionalism and attention to detail stood out:
  • Appearance checks ensured that outfits, colors, and overall styling matched the director’s vision.
  • Wardrobe and visual continuity were carefully controlled to maintain consistency across every take.
  • Set design and crowd scale created the feel of a real, busy oil show.
Although the scene was set in Midland, the production built the oil show environment in Dallas for logistical and cost reasons. With around 600 people on set – actors, extras, crew, and exhibitors – the atmosphere closely mirrored a major industry event.
The Reality of Filming: Precision Through Repetition
A full day on set highlighted just how much work goes into a few minutes of screen time.
The same scenes were filmed repeatedly to capture:
  • Multiple camera angles
  • Different crowd movements
  • Subtle adjustments to lighting and blocking
Every detail mattered:
  • What exhibitors wore
  • How booths were arranged
  • How people moved through the space
The repetitive nature of the process – recreating the same actions and dialogue over and over with hundreds of people in frame – offered a new appreciation for the craft, coordination, and discipline behind high-quality production.

A Fictional Oil Show with Real Conversations
While the oil show was fictional, the interest in RigER on set was very real. The RigER booth attracted attention from other “exhibitors” and extras throughout the day. Between takes, several people approached the team to ask:
  • What RigER does
  • How it helps digitalize paper-based processes
  • How oilfield job management software is used in day-to-day operations
In other words, a staged oil show turned into genuine conversations about digital transformation in the oilfield – exactly what RigER focuses on in real life.
One of the team members summed up the experience this way:
“The Landman Season 2 set and facility were top notch, well organized, and epic. The scale and organization alone would impress any project manager. Seeing how precisely everything was planned and executed gave us a new perspective on large-scale operations.”
From Oilfield Operations to On-Screen Representation
Beyond the excitement of being on set, the experience highlighted a meaningful connection:
  • RigER’s core mission is to help energy service companies move away from fragmented tools and paper-based processes toward integrated, digital operations.
  • Landman shines a spotlight on the people, challenges, and realities of the energy industry.
Bringing RigER into that environment – even as part of a fictional oil show—helped bridge the gap between on-screen storytelling and the real technology powering modern oilfield operations.
Watch Landman Season 2 and Look for RigER
When Landman Season 2 airs, viewers will have the chance to:
  • Spot the oil show scene
  • Look for the RigER booth in the background
  • Catch a glimpse of how digital tools like RigER are becoming part of the broader story of the energy sector
For RigER, this behind-the-scenes experience was more than just a fun day on set. It was a reminder that the work of digitalizing oilfield operations is increasingly visible – not only in the field and in offices, but also in how the industry is portrayed to a wider audience.
