RigER at Offshore Europe 2025: Digitalizing Offshore Equipment Rentals

RigER was proud to participate in Offshore Europe 2025 in Aberdeen, where our CEO, Michael Maltsev, MBA, delivered a presentation on one of the industry’s most pressing topics: Digitalizing Offshore Equipment Rentals: From Legacy Challenges to Data-Driven Operations.
In his talk, Michael addressed the realities offshore service and rental companies face today—navigating some of the harshest working environments while managing growing pressure around safety, compliance, cost control, and operational performance.
From Paper to Digital: Overcoming Legacy Challenges
Michael opened by pointing to a familiar problem in offshore rentals: the persistence of manual, paper-based processes. These legacy systems consume up to 80% of employee time, increase compliance risks, and make it nearly impossible to access vital records in real time.
By contrast, digital platforms centralize data in secure, searchable repositories, giving offshore operators immediate access to inspection records, certifications, and customer documentation—critical in an environment where compliance and speed matter.
Key Takeaways from the Presentation

Pricing and Billing. Offshore rentals often involve complex multi-tier discount schemes, performance-based adjustments, and Master Service Agreements. Manual approaches to this complexity result in errors and revenue leakage. Michael showed how digital solutions streamline these processes, enabling integrated analytics, automated invoicing, and transparent audit trails.
Compliance and Inspections. Regulatory and quality compliance remains a cornerstone of offshore operations. With digital tools, inspection data, test reports, and third-party certifications are automatically recorded, stored, and instantly accessible – ensuring traceability and readiness for audits.
Logistics and Asset Tracking. Equipment constantly moves between yards, ports, vessels, and offshore platforms. Lost or mismanaged assets can delay projects and cost hundreds of thousands per day. Michael highlighted how real-time digital tracking of assets prevents disruptions and enhances operational efficiency.
Unlocking Value. Digitalization is not just about efficiency. Offshore operators adopting digital systems typically realize 12–20% reductions in operating costs, extend asset lifespans, and increase utilization rates. Enhanced scheduling and dispatch improve service quality and directly reduce downtime.
Looking Ahead: Building a Digital-First Offshore Enterprise
Michael concluded his presentation with a forward-looking message: digital transformation is not just about adopting software – it’s about building a digital-first culture. This means equipping teams with mobile, offline-ready tools, embracing advanced technologies like RFID, and upskilling the workforce with data-driven capabilities.
By combining technology adoption with cultural readiness, offshore companies can not only improve compliance and cost control but also build resilience and agility for the future.
At Offshore Europe 2025, RigER reinforced its commitment to helping offshore energy service and equipment rental companies move beyond legacy inefficiencies and harness the power of digital operations. Michael’s message was clear: digitalization is no longer optional—it’s the foundation for sustained success in the offshore industry.
