From Six Hours to Fifteen Minutes: How RigER Simplified Oilfield Invoicing

Recently, I have been asking how we develop products roadmap at RigER Oilfield Job Management Software. Many of our best features come from talking directly with clients about their real problems.
I want to share a story about one of our most helpful features in our oilfield rental module – the master invoices system – that has made a big difference for many clients.
Five years ago, we began working with an oilfield equipment rental company in Bryan, Texas. They’re still one of our best clients today, and I’m happy about it.
This company delivers surface equipment to sites with multiple wells (usually 3-6 wells per wellpad). When we first met with them, we discovered a significant challenge in their accounting department. Their accountant struggled to split rental and service costs across multiple wells because each well needed its own detailed invoice. This created major hurdles – they had to track different schedules, record all equipment movements, and divide services and supplies across several wells.

This manual process took about 6 hours, sometimes a full workday, just to organize everything in spreadsheets before creating invoices. The tedious work led to frequent mistakes, requiring corrections and causing frustration throughout the company.
Seeing this problem was our “aha” moment – we knew we could solve it with technology.
The RigER team built a job calendar and allocation system, then created a master invoice with subinvoices for each well, a system that automatically splits charges between wells based on schedules and settings, eliminating the need for manual calculations.
  • The results were amazing – what used to take minimum 6 hours now takes just 10-15 minutes, making their invoicing process dramatically more efficient.
