In 2016, RigER started working with its first client in Texas: Kenergy Oilfield Solutions. Ten years later, they are still with us. This is our thank-you, and a short account of what that first relationship did for the company we became.
2016: one product, one flight, one client
RigER was four years old. We had built the platform in Calgary for Canadian rental and service companies, and we wanted to work in the United States. Kenergy said yes before anyone else did.
Michael Maltsev, our founder, and Gleb Kobets, COO flew to Texas for the first time to make it work. We didn’t know how the product should fit the American market: how a Texas rental company priced a job, how it ran dispatch, what it expected a system to do on day one. Those questions look simple to us now. In 2016 they were not. We worked through them one at a time, and Kenergy tested every answer in the field.
People at Kenergy still remember that first visit. So do we.
The first offline mobile app
About a year later, our first offline mobile app went live at Kenergy. Their crews ran it before anyone else did, told us what worked and what did not, and kept telling us.
That first version is nine years behind us. The mobile platform is now in its third generation and looks nothing like it. A large share of the distance between version one and version three started with feedback from Kenergy’s crews and office.

The first reference
Before Kenergy, RigER had no US customer to point to. After Kenergy, we had our first testimonial in the United States, and it carried weight with the rental and service companies that came after.
Ten years, two companies
Since 2016 we have been through COVID and every market swing that followed. Kenergy’s business has changed. RigER grew from a Calgary startup into international business working in four continets. Both companies look different today.
RigER’s headquarters is now in Austin, 40 minutes from Kenergy’s. That is not a coincidence.
What we learned
10 years in this market taught us one thing above the rest: you build a company on people you can trust. Kenergy was the first of those for us in Texas.
